These writing activities work in the browser of any computer, iPad or
tablet
The aim is to build writing accuracy in any language through collaboration
and inductive learning.
(It is often thought that students retain the effects of correction better
when they make changes themselves)
Activity 1: Writing practice with teacher correction and support in the
classroom
In the classroom, an individual or a group of students writes a
sentence/story/essay/letter/email at schoolshape.com/write. They
can submit their work as soon as they have begun to write.
Teachers open the student=E2=80=99s work from their email inbox on their
computer/iPad/tablet/phone, and begin correcting and giving feedback on
iPad/tablet/computer.
The students=E2=80=99 attention is drawn to any errors (by seeing mistakes =
marked
in red). They then correct any mistakes with the help of guidance from the
automatic hint system.
The website shows their percentage accuracy, encouraging them to improve
over time.
Activity 2: Writing practice with expert helper/mentor/penfriend in the
classroom or as homework
A group of students (or an individual) is asked to write a
sentence/story/essay/letter/email in class or for homework. At any point
they can submit their work for correction to one or more pre-approved
expert mentors.
The mentor(s) checks his/her email inbox on /her computer/iPad/tablet/phone
for the first submissions and begins correcting and giving feedback using
iPad/tablet/computer.
Each student will immediately see any mistakes appearing in red on his
screen and, below, a figure showing his percentage accuracy for the work.
He can then make multiple attempts to correct his mistakes, helped by the
automatic hint system.
