Dear friends and colleagues,
I have been contacted by a Spanish company, Title Intellectual Property, that develops mobile apps. As they say in their letter,
"We are now testing an Android mobile language learning app for preschoolers. Currently the app is English-only and has only 5 topics:
* Animals;
* Seasons;
* Vegetables;
* Face and Body;
* Numbers.
The app includes audio recordings, animated presentations of new words, and age-appropriate practice games, including puzzles, construction games, matching and shadows.
We are planning to expand the app to 15 topics but now we are looking for language teachers' opinions to see whether such an app would be useful for them to teach languages other than English to young learners and whether there are some particular types of exercises/games that look more (or less, for that matter) useful than others. The app s now in testing mode, which means that to be able to download and install it, you need to be added as a tester. We would be happy to provide access to the app to you and/or your colleagues. To get the app, please follow: goo.gl/forms/ppBts2o2XBEPvXC82 "
I personally know some people who work for that company as I used to provide some consultations for them. Therefore I immediately thought that perhaps the best language teaching professionals teachers to look into the app would be the FLTEACH community and therefore I've decided to post the extract from the letter and the link here. I, too, have installed the app (it takes about 24 hours for the developers to add you as a tester and send you the download link due to the time difference between Madrid and the USA) and am going to show it to some of my younger students. It seems a good thing that you can set up as many accounts for children as you wish and get detailed reports for each and every child, so it will be interesting to see whether younger kids will like the games and what impact the app may have on their vocabulary.
Best wishes,
Alexey Konobeiev
