Colleagues, As we begin a new school, we will have to create our Student Growth Objectives (SGOs). A Student Growth Objective is a long-term academic goal that teachers set for groups of students. (This is a state requirement.) We have to create two different types. However, what works best for ESL and Language classes? If you're not in NJ or previously taught in a different state, what are/were these called? There are 4 SGO types: - General Simple
- General Tiered
- Specific (skill) Simple
- Specific (skill) Tiered
I would like to hear your thoughts on:
- What types of student growth objects work for ESL and Language classes?
- What skills do you base your SGOs on?
- How do you measure growth? or What do you use to measure growth?
- If you're only focusing on reading and speaking, how can growth be measured?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Mrs. D
